With more than 10,000 employees across the globe, HYDAC is an industry leader in hydraulics, electronics and filtration systems. To continue delivering the best, HYDAC came to us with a plan to build a new 1000m2 training facility in Melbourne, complete with everything a new employee would need to learn the ropes. The last step in that plan being a durable, high performance flooring solution that would support daily activities for decades to come.
HYDAC needed a floor that would endure heavy machinery, high foot traffic and potential chemical exposure, maximising safety and keeping maintenance easy. And as a training and R&D facility frequently visited by clients and management, it was essential that the floors reflect HYDAC’s core values of quality and excellence.
As always, work began with an inspection and live samples, allowing us to choose a solution that HYDAC was happy with before the project began. To meet their needs, we chose a 6mm Sika Purcem HB22 Polyurethane flooring system. This system offers exceptional chemical resistance, impact durability, and long-term performance. It also looks great, an added bonus for clients and managers visiting the facility.
Once approved, our team mobilised two Husqvarna PG 830 Remote Control grinders to ensure uniform and efficient surface preparation. We then applied the Sikafloor Purcem Polyurethane Cement to the specified thickness, followed by a UV-stable polyurethane topcoat enhanced with encapsulated aluminium oxide for added non-slip capabilities.
Finally, the team recut and caulked all expansion joints with a polyurethane hybrid caulk, delivering a seamless and professional finish.
Safecoat takes pride in delivering comprehensive QA/QC processes. At project completion, Hydac received full documentation detailing the applied system, along with a care and maintenance manual to help protect their new flooring investment.
