    Frequently Asked Questions

Epoxy is a durable and rigid plastic substance made with resin and other materials. When epoxy is applied to a flooring surface, it creates a tough, hardworking floor surface. Epoxy flooring can be used for commercial and industrial settings.

The main benefit of epoxy flooring is its durability. Epoxy is long-lasting and scratch-resistant. It is also no-porous, meaning that liquids such as water and grease will not seep into the material and cause damage. With a long lifespan, an investment in epoxy flooring makes good financial sense.

There are many options for epoxy flooring, including products with decorative or colourful finishes. The cost for epoxy flooring will also vary on the scale of the job. If you are considering epoxy flooring, we offer free quotes– so call us to discuss your preferences and requirements.

Epoxy flooring products can be used to repair cracks or pits on an existing floor. The floor must first be properly cleaned and prepared for repairs to be completed safely. Then, gaps and cracks are filled with a special epoxy filler compound. Finally, the entire floor surface is treated with a coat of epoxy finish to ensure the repaired area is sealed and consistent with the rest of the flooring.

Epoxy flake flooring is a distinctive type of epoxy flooring. During installation, decorative or colourful flakes are added to the epoxy coating. The flakes are made of vinyl and polymer and can be used to create a unique look. Epoxy flake flooring is popular in offices, workshops, retail shops, bathrooms, warehouse  and other commercial settings.

If you are after a long-lasting, hardworking floor, then epoxy is a great choice. The product’s lifespan will vary on usage, foot and vehicle traffic and the type of premises you install in. Epoxy flooring will typically last for at least five years and most commonly between 10 and 20 years. It can outlast and outperform many other types of flooring.

Because different layers must be added to epoxy flooring, it will usually take a couple of days to complete an epoxy installation job. Installation timelines can be impacted by the size of the area to be covered, as well as environmental factors, such as the room temperature.

Businesses such as car showrooms and automotive workshops rate epoxy floors highly because they are tough enough to handle the weight of cars and make cleaning oil spills a breeze. Many warehouse, factory and showroom operators choose epoxy for their floor coating. You can also commonly find epoxy in commercial kitchens, laboratories and gymnasiums.

Several factors will contribute to how long it will be before you can walk on your new epoxy flooring. Typically, new epoxy flooring can be used 72 hours after installation. Of course you will be keen to try the flooring out, but it is important for the overall finish that you allow an adequate drying time. We will always inform you when your new epoxy floor will be ready for use.

Epoxy can dry 8 hours after applying and it can be walkable. For the epoxy to fully chemically cure this can take up to 7 days.

It really just comes down to taking care of it. Keeping it clean and keeping contaminants of it helps. It is a very durable coating but it does scratch and scuff.
